Hume City Council

Roxburgh Park, VIC

Davidson Architecture provided design and contract administration services for an extension and upgrade to an existing Child Care Centre in the Roxburgh Park Youth and Recreation Centre. These design services were provided to the facility operator, Hume City Council. Our aim was to revitalise a tired facility using simple geometries and strong colour contrasts, while providing functional and safe spaces with additional storage. Inspired by early 20th century expressionist art and design, the new aesthetic was warmly received by the users and the council. Wet areas and office areas were also refurbished with a fresh new look and improved ergonomics. Underpinning the fresh new design concepts was thorough application of the principles of the ‘Design guide for Victorian Children’s Services’. Concurrent to this project, we designed a refurbishment to an adjacent youth centre. All the works were carried out by Harris HMC. This Project was completed in 2021.
