This project is a milestone in sustainability and waste processing in western Sydney. Designed to subject recyclables to sophisticated processing methodologies to allow separation and despatch to further processing systems for reuse. The facility will accept council recyclables via a weighbridge which will then be processed and sorted to remove impurities.
The complex was also designed to include an education centre, with a bus parking and disembarkment area. The education area includes screening facilities as well as a viewing area for the processing zone through sound insulated glass. The visitor area has been designed to give a high tech feel to reflect the new age of reuse, rather than throw away culture. As with all waste industry projects, the budget was tight, however Davidson Architecture have delivered better value than the client expected.
